About
The Department of Dermatology is a branch of Medicine Specialty that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the skin. The Dermatology department is a full-fledged specialty with adequate staff available for teaching and training of MBBS students, and for the care of patients suffering from Skin Diseases, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and Leprosy.
Undergraduate and postgraduate-focused teaching is given high priority. Postgraduate case presentations, journal club meetings, and seminars are held regularly. Ward rounds, histo-pathological discussions & demonstrations, and bedside teaching are regularly undertaken. Patients are well cared for both in the OPD and in the hospital.
Specialized examinations by Wood's lamp and skin biopsy are regularly conducted. Procedures like Fractional CO2, Phototherapy, chemical peels, Radiofrequency, electrocautery, dermarollers, cryotherapy, comedone extraction, molluscum body evacuation, and chemical cautery are performed regularly. The department started a postgraduate (MD) course from the academic year 2019, accommodating three PG students per year.
