Department of Dermatology

About

The Department of Dermatology is a branch of Medicine Specialty that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the skin. Dermatology department is a full-fledged specialty with adequate staff available for teaching and training of MBBS students, and for care of patients suffering from Skin Diseases, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and Leprosy. Undergraduate and postgraduate focused teaching is given high priority.

Postgraduate case presentations, journal club meetings, and seminars are held regularly. Ward rounds, histopathological discussions & demonstrations, and bedside teaching are regularly undertaken. The patients are well cared for both in OPD and in the hospital. Specialized examinations by Wood's lamp and skin biopsy are regularly done. Procedures like Fractional CO₂, Phototherapy, chemical peels, Radiofrequency, electrocautery, dermarollers, cryotherapy, comedone extraction, molluscum body evacuation, and chemical cautery are done regularly. The department has started the postgraduate (MD) course from the academic year 2019, having three PG students per year.
