Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology

About

The Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology is dedicated to combating cancer through comprehensive services in Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, and Palliative Care. Our department is managed by a team of well-trained and experienced Oncologists who oversee all three units.

Teaching, clinical practice, and translational research in the field of cancer are continuously ongoing processes within the department. We are equipped with world-class technology for radiotherapy treatment delivery, treatment planning, and radiation dosimetry.

The department houses a high-energy medical linear accelerator for external beam radiation therapy, Monaco treatment planning system, and dosimetry equipment for reference, absolute, and routine dosimetry, as well as patient-specific quality assurance.

Additionally, we have a specialized and dedicated 40-bedded ward for chemotherapy, facilitating patients from all around the state. Our palliative care unit is managed by a team of oncologists trained in national-level palliative care programs.

The Radiation Safety of installations, patients, and the public is ensured by an accredited Radiation Safety Officer. The treatment planning, quality assurance, radiation dosimetry, and protocol management are overseen by a team of Medical Physicists. Our Physics Technicians handle simulation and radiation delivery to patients. A dedicated team of trained nurses manages the chemotherapy and palliative care units, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
